Mick Goodrick RIP – 1945-2022

Jazz Guitar Life laments the passing of player and educator Mick Goodrick. He has been a huge influence to countless Jazz Guitarists and musicians worldwide and his sought after The Advancing Guitarist has become a musical bible to so many pros and students alike.

I was fortunate to have seen him live on two occasions back in he 80’s and got the chance to talk with Mick a few years ago. It was a fun exchange and I thoroughly enjoyed our chat. If interested, here’s a link to the interview. I’m glad I got a chance to speak to him.

May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family, friends and students both past and present.

We’ve been losing too many of our musical heroes as of late.

“With a heavy heart, we share the news that our dear friend and guitar faculty member Mick Goodrick passed away today. Mick passed at home, surrounded by dear friends and fellow guitar faculty.

Mick’s contributions to our department community, to Berklee, and to the guitar community as a whole cannot be measured.”
